Chapter 21

Twelve hours after the call from Newark Vito Roma and Dallas Freed stepped out of a large silver color sedan in the yard of Ace Trucking Company. The driver deposited their bags on the loading dock and departed. Marco Cidella met them on the dock and took them to the office of Sal Roselli. It was 4 AM when the group met in Sal’s office. Roselli was still angry and close to irrational. He was on the verge of losing a lifetime of hard work and the stress was beginning to show dramatically.

“Vito, I’m glad to see you. Things are going bad and I need you.” He hugged his hit-man.

“It’s good to be here, Mr. Roselli. Dallas and I are ready to go to work. Tell me what’s going on.”

Roselli turned to Cidella, “Marco, leave us alone for a while. I’ll call you when I need you.”

Without saying a word Cidella left the office and returned to his own, or had been his own until now when it would obviously be taken back by Vito Roma.

Once Cidella was out of the office Roselli began to explain. “The FBI has been here asking about you and Dallas. They’ve had a look-out in the top floor of that abandoned building on 113th street. I seen ‘em when they were setting up over there. They come here every couple of days and ask about you two. For that reason I want the two of you to take that jet and fly to Alaska. I want you to finish what you started there. That girl up there has been talking with the police. We have to silence her before she can do us any harm.”

“We’ll take care of it, Mr. Roselli,” said Roma.

“One more thing Vito, Rinaldi and Dressler have to disappear. Gino called to tell me he and Tony had been arrested for carrying a firearm in a school zone. While the Troopers were having them booked a fed showed up with the federal warrants from down here. I’m sending a lawyer up there. You two can ride up to Alaska on the same plane. Have Marco furnish some new ID for the two of you. I’ll have the lawyer bail them out of jail, but it will be your job to see they never get back there to court for a trial. The other thing I want taken care of is that girl. She seems to be the connection with the troopers and I want her eliminated, and while you’re there I want you to get rid of those two cops that came here to the warehouse. I want them gone!” Roselli issued his orders with an evil sneer on his face. His anger was now making his decisions for him.

“Hey, Boss,” said Vito, “that’s going to leave a lot of bodies lying around up there. Are you sure you want to do that?”

The evil sneer intensified, “Just do what I told you, Vito,” he spat out. “Get this taken care of NOW.
